WISTERIA IN BLOOM

It is not truly springtime at Montsalvat until the Wisteria starts to bloom. Each year, Montsalvat’s wisteria comes to life, transforming the Poolside area into a haven of violet and lavender hues for two to three weeks.

Over 80 years old, our iconic Wisteria was planted on the Poolside terrace alongside the completion of the Long Gallery build in the late 1930’s. Today, its vines span the length of the terrace, a cascading canopy of purple flowers. Historically, Montsalvat’s Poolside area has served as a meeting point for artists and creatives, where ideas flow as freely as the vines of the wisteria itself.

Wisteria blossoms symbolize renewal, new beginnings, and the intertwining bonds of love and devotion. Its sprawling form reflects the essence of creativity and inspiration, making this annual bloom a timeless reminder of the enduring connection between nature and art.
