Outdoor Cinema - The Lost City of Melbourne

Join us for this insight into Melbourne’s architectural and social history. The Lost City of Melbourne is an independent feature documentary by director Gus Berger (owner of Thornbury Picture House and Blow-Up Cinema) and captures the story of Melbourne before Whelan The Wrecker was here. The film debuted in 2022 at The Capitol as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Justus Jörgensen, founder of Montsalvat, sourced many architectural elements from the demolition company Whelan The Wrecker including the gothic windows of the Great Hall and the bluestone of the Chapel.

We invite you to bring a picnic rug and enjoy the film at our outdoor pop-up cinema at Montsalvat!
